Dec. 2, 2009: E-Nose & Retro-formulation of spiced sauce

HERACLES Electronic Nose was used to compare the aroma profile of a spiced sauce with the quivalent product, leader of the market. By comparing the aroma profile of the sauces to those of various herbs and spices, the odorous compounds were characterized, thus facilitating the future re-formulation stage.

Nov. 23, 2009: Analysis of Malt Whisky

In an analysis run for the Scotch Whisky Research Institute (SWRI) at Alpha MOS lab, malt whisky spirits from six different distilleries were compared using HERACLES Electronic Nose and sensory evaluation. It shows that important sensory attributes (such as Sulfury, Meaty, Feinty, Fruity, Green and Floral) are highly correlated with E-nose data.

Nov. 3, 2009: Opening of Joint Laboratory for Traditional Chinese Medicine Formulation in Shanghai

Over the last few years, the Engineering Research Center of Modern Preparation Technology of Traditional Chinese Medicines, a branch of the Ministry of Education (ERCME) has set up a close collaboration with Alpha MOS. The ERCME is specialized in the formulation of Traditional Chinese Medicines and worked with Alpha MOS to check the origin and the authenticity of raw materials, and to mask the bitterness of ingredients. An opening ceremony of a joint laboratory with Alpha MOS took place on November 3 in Shanghai. It marked a very important stage in the collaboration as it will strengthen the exchange of technological information and knowledge.
